Our verdict

OVHcloud is one of the large mainstream cloud providers, selling VPS plans across Europe and in Mumbai, Singapore and Sydney, and it suits buyers who want a well-known infrastructure company rather than a privacy-focused host. Signing up means handing over real details: its terms ask for identity, contact and bank information when the account is created. The terms also let it check that information and ask for supporting documents before the account is activated or at any point afterwards, and it can refuse or close an account whose details look incomplete or wrong.

OVHcloud takes payment by credit or debit card, PayPal or a prepaid account balance, and its payment page lists no cryptocurrency option. Each of those methods ties an order to a bank or PayPal identity, so there is no route to an anonymous purchase. Accounts on the international English site contract with OVH Hosting Inc. in Montreal, and the agreement is governed by the laws of Quebec and Canada.

OVHcloud's current VPS range runs from small entry-level machines to mid-size servers with 24 GB of RAM, all on NVMe storage. Each plan includes a daily backup, anti-DDoS protection and unlimited traffic, with public bandwidth that grows with the plan. The servers in Mumbai, Singapore and Sydney are the exception: they come with a monthly traffic quota, after which bandwidth is capped at 10 Mbps. IPv6 is supported and a wide range of operating systems is offered.

OVHcloud's policies are written with business customers in mind. Support runs in English and French during business hours, mainly through tickets in the control panel, with a phone line for consumers. Its terms rule out refunds for unused or partly used periods, except when a service was never delivered, and they ban cryptocurrency mining on its servers.

OVHcloud makes sense for projects where scale, network quality and a broad European footprint matter more than privacy, such as business sites or development servers run under a real identity. Its identity requirements, card-and-PayPal-only payments and the right to demand documents at any time put it at odds with anyone trying to keep their name off a server.
