LunaNode is a VPS provider running its infrastructure in Canada, built for technically confident users who want flexible cloud servers rather than a managed service. Nothing on its site mentions ID checks, either as a current requirement or as something it reserves the right to introduce later. That silence is not a promise, though, and the rest of the signup process shows how much the provider wants to know about its customers.
LunaNode's signup is the weak point for anyone chasing anonymity. It collects an email address, name, postal address and phone number from paying customers, and accounts registered through a proxy, VPN or VPS may be disabled, so hiding an IP address at signup is off the table. Bitcoin is accepted, which keeps payments away from card statements, but the personal details on file still link the account to a real identity. Billing is in US dollars, and chargebacks carry an administrative fee.
LunaNode keeps its range to VPS plans, from small half-gigabyte instances up to large memory configurations. Custom ISO and qcow2 uploads mean almost any operating system can run, and the cloud platform supports IPv6. Bandwidth is pooled, with overage billed per gigabyte. There is no automatic backup of client data, and nothing describes active DDoS mitigation: attacked services may be null routed, then suspended after repeated attacks.
LunaNode draws a clear line on Tor: non-exit relays are allowed, exit nodes are not, and public anonymous proxies and open VPN servers are banned too. Outgoing mail above roughly a thousand messages an hour needs prior permission or SMTP traffic gets blocked. Unused account credit can be refunded on request, excluding promotional credit, but not after a suspension for terms violations, and involvement in legal action against the provider can end in termination without refund. Data is handed over when the law requires it, though users are notified unless legally barred, and a PGP key can be uploaded so emails from the provider arrive encrypted. Website logs with IP and browser details are kept for up to thirty days.
LunaNode makes sense for someone who is comfortable being known to their host but wants custom OS images, IPv6 and a home for a Tor relay. Anyone needing an account untied to their identity, exit node hosting or protection from DDoS attacks will find the terms working against them.
